Chef Mikey of NOLA Culinarians’ very brief autobiography:
Raised by a family of food. My great grandparents owned a restaurant that was sunk in the depression. The Mexican babysitters I had taught me to roll tamales at 3 years old. My mom and grandmother helped my passion for food grow. I started cooking for money in 1997. After a stint in school for psychology I realized that I could never charge anyone that needed to talk but I could bring joy to people through food.
I was trained by the only French Master Chef in New Orleans but ventured into global cuisine after opening multiple Whole Foods Markets across the US. My passion for clean ingredients came from my 7 year stint at Whole Foods where I realized that healthy and tasty could and should go hand in hand.
After helping my dad beat diabetes with food I realized that Hippocrates was right. “Let food by thy medicine and medicine be thy food”
